Stuffed Animal Sleepover

On Tuesday evening, February 21^th at 6:30, bring a stuffed animal friend to a pajama storytime, then tuck them in for a night at the library! Overnight, the librarians will keep watch and take photos of everything your stuffed animal does. Will they play on the computers? Raid the candy guessing jar? Ride the elevator by themselves? Recycle, Reuse!

Short Stories How-to Program

Join Linda McCullough Moore on Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 2:00p.m. for a program entitled “Short Stories: How to Write Them, How to See Them Into Print . The program will be held at the Storrs Library, 693 Longmeadow St., Longmeadow, MA. Moore will read from her newly published collection of short stories This Road Will Take Us Closer to the Moon and answer questions about writing and selling. Copies of her book will be available for purchase and signing. This program is free and open to the public. Please call the Reference Desk at 413-565-4181 to register.

Linda McCullough Moore is the author of a literary novel, The Distance Between (SOHO PRESS), and more than 300 shorter published works, appearing in such places as The Sun, The Massachusetts Review, The Boston Globe, The Alaska Quarterly Review, House Beautiful, The Southern Review, and Books and Culture. She is the winner and finalist of numerous national short fiction awards including New York Stories, The Nelson Algren Award, The Tobias Woolf Award, and The Pushcart Prize XXXV. She lives and writes in western Massachusetts where she teaches creative writing and mentors aspiring writers.

Mother-Daughter Bookgroup

The Philip Michael Lauro II Discovery Room at Storrs Library will host our Mother-Daughter Book Group on Tuesday evening, February 7, from 6:30 to 7:45 p.m. This activity-filled discussion group is open to students in grades 6 to 8 and meets monthly. Activities include discussion, games, snacks, and an art project! Sign up at 565-4182. Our selection for February is, Going for the Record by Julia Swanson. This book tells the story of seventeen-year-old Leah and her chance to make the national soccer team. Her past dreams do not seem so important when she learns that her father has cancer and may only have months to live.
