Library Cards
All Massachusetts residents are entitled to a Storrs Library card. In order to obtain a card, Longmeadow residents must present identification with name and current address. Non-residents are required to show a picture I.D. Children under the age of thirteen must have a parent or guardian sign the application form. There is no charge for a library card. Materials may not be charged out without a library card. If you have lost or forgotten your card, please notify a librarian. A replacement card can be issued for a fee of $1.00 Note: Storrs Library is a member of the CWMARS network. Materials at any member library may be borrowed using a card from any CWMARS library.
Out of State Registration Policy Effective as of January 12, 2006
As of January 12, 2006, all out-of-state cardholdhers including new registrations and re-registrations will be assessed a $35.00 yearly fee per card. Note: A fee waiver may be applied under the following circumstances, provided proper documentation is presented.
- Longmeadow taxpayers who present a copy of their current Longmeadow tax bill.
- Employees of the Town of Longmeadow who present a pay stub.
- Volunteers in Longmeadow’s Town Departments who bring in a note from their supervisor.
- Donors to Storrs Library and Friends of Storrs Library who have made a contribution of $35.00 or more between November of the past year and December of the current year. A receipt or cancelled check must be presented

- Adult New Fiction and New Nonfiction, 14 days
- All Fiction and NonFiction, 21 days
- All Periodicals, 7 days
- All circulating Encyclopedias, 7 days
- All Compact Discs, 21 days
- All Audiocassettes and Books on CD, 21 days
- All Videocassettes and DVDs, 7 days
- Multimedia Kits, 14 days
- Puppets, 21 days
- Museum and Park Passes, 3 days
Circulation Limits
Patrons are welcome to take out a total of 50 items system wide. System-wide circulation of certain item types is limited as follows:
- Videocassettes, and DVDs, 20 per card
- Audiocassettes and Books on CD, 20 per card
- Compact Discs, 20 per card
- CDROMs, 20 per card
Renewals
All items, except multimedia and certain interlibrary loan materials, may be renewed once, by telephone, online, or in person, provided there are no outstanding requests. Renewal periods are:
- Adult New Fiction and New Nonfiction, 14 days
- All Fiction and Nonfiction, 21 days
- All Audiocassettes and Books on CD, 21 days
- All Compact Discs, 21 days
- All Videocassettes and DVDs, 7 days
- All CDROMs, 7 days
- Museum and Park Passes, 3 days
Rentals
For patrons eager to read bestsellers with long reserve lists, the Library maintains a rental collection of the most sought-after titles. These books are available for a fee on a first come, first served basis. The rental fee is $.50 for the first two days and $.10 a day for each additional day. Payment is made upon return of the book. All books in the Rental Collection are also available for no charge in the circulating collection.
Reserves
All materials, except Museum and Park passes, may be reserved online or at the Reference Desk or Children’s Information Desk. When the requested item comes in, the Library will notify patrons by telephone or e-mail.
Inter-library Loans
If Storrs Library does not have what you need, it can be requested from another library online or at the Reference Desk or Children’s Information Desk . Please inquire at the Reference Desk and a librarian will be happy to assist you.
Fines
Fines will be assessed on all materials returned after the due date. The fine rates are:
- Videocassettes & DVDs, $1.00 per day per item to a maximum of $5.00
- Books, $0.10 per day per item to a maximum of $3.00
- Paperbacks and Periodicals, $0.10 per day per item to a maximum of $1.00
- Compact Discs, $0.10 per day per item to a maximum of $3.00
- Audiocassettes and Books on CD, $0.10 per day per item to a maximum of $3.00
- CDROMs, $1.00 per day per item to a maximum of $5.00.
- Museum and Park Passes,$1.00 per day up to replacement cost of item.
Replacement Fees:
Material lost or damaged will be assessed a replacement fee. Refunds will be given upon the return of materials in good condition within 2 weeks of payment.

- Follow the instructions for creating a PIN number.
- If you have already created a PIN number, enter it in the appropriate field.
- If you have forgotten your PIN you need to contact the Library before creating a new one
- After you have entered all your information, you will be allowed to view your library record and renew items online.
- Please remember that renewals are governed by certain circulation parameters and some items may not be renewable. Some of the reasons preventing renewal are:
- The item is non-renewable
- The item has already been renewed once.
- The patron’s record is blocked due to fines in excess of $10.00.
- There are holds on the item
- The item is overdue.
